Online Trading Academy    |    Creative & Art Direction, Designer, Video Producer, Studio Manager

In 2017 I led the project to create a secondary, small in-house studio for producing online classes and informational video content (both live and recorded) without the use of green screen. I first worked with vendors to build out a basic functional studio that provided - space, sound proofing, lighting and electrical, and connectivity of video equipment. To help plan, I created 3D renderings for how to build out the area, and recommendations for equipment selection and placement, based on budget and space. The initial budget however, could not cover styling to give the space a professional look. Because of that, the videos produced were functional but felt basic and unexciting.

Being responsible for running and managing the studio and its production, while knowing that visual aesthetics help sell a product, I felt a clear need for an elevated studio design to promote the brand's image of itself as a leader in its education sector.

Goal: Design and build out a versatile and visually appealing set that was low-cost and compatible with the brand's aesthetics.

Result: In 2019 I secured approval to explore and plan for a new studio set design. After looking at similar industry examples, I designed 3D rendering concepts to meet specs and generate visual direction for the overall set design. I designed a solution to easily cover the TV in the center with a logo-branded panel for alternate setups or when it would not be in use. I also factored in how controlled lighting for different setups would be instrumental for different topics and tones, like class presentations vs couch interviews. I incorporated 3D brick walls to add depth and texture, and also break up sound. Since the studio is built to produce financial industry topics, to keep under that theme I included the illuminated orange bars on the back wall to depict candlesticks on a stock chart.
